For the past few weeks, we've been doing basic preparation for Pi Wars and building the robot's chassis using a Waveshare assembly kit. We've also been preparing for a bake sale which will be on November 29th, so fingers crossed everything goes smoothly!
WEEK 1 (02/10/23 - 08/10/23)
We were all so shocked that we had gotten into the competition that we weren't completely sure what to do with ourselves for the first week! After a few minutes, we all eventually got to work: with all of us starting to build the chassis for the robot and except Divi who was designing the robot features for the different challenges, we planned to do as many automated as possible (we may have been a bit to ambitious). WEEK 2 (09/10/23 - 15/10/23)
For the second week, Anika and Emmeline continued building the robot while Luna and Divi started researching, ordering, and gathering all of the hardware we would need for the different challenges.
WEEK 3 (30/10/23 - 5/11/23)
The third week in, Luna and Divi began working on the starter code and translating the code into English, while Anika and Emmeline connected the Pi and the wheels to the chassis
WEEK 4 (6/10/23 - 12/11/23)
Fourth week in and the robot was playing up. We connected to a monitor so that we could connect to the controller. BUT the minute we turned the Pi on smoke began coming from the robot and the area was filled with the smell of burning rubber. Turns out, we'd gotten out wires crossed and quickly fixed it only to run into a problem with our controller. The controller was glitching in and out for the majority of the session. Eventually, we gave up and just switched out the controller.
WEEK 5 (13/11/23 - 19/11/23)
Fifth week, we decided to have some fun with blogging. We spent the session taking cute team photos and working on our first two blog posts (only to find out we couldn't publish our funny introductions for meet the team due to safeguarding reasons). It was also Emmeline's snack rota so we had the good snacks!! All in all a great day :)
