Hi everyone!
Sorry for the silence - our team has been busy getting ready for the competition, which is only 3 days away (time really does fly when you're eating strawberry laces)!!
Over the holidays, Luna took Bob home for the Easter and here is her captain's log:
luna took the robot home over the easter hols, but she was really busy for the first two weeks.
the last week was dedicated to working on the robot
day 1 (07/04/24): she went through all the code and made a to do list for everything she would start doing as she found more and more things to fix along the way! also did a whole load of documentation for all the pins for the hardware and copied in all the information for all of the challenges so that the team's shared onenote was more organised :)
day 2 (08/04/24): she worked out how to connect the sonar sensor to the Pi, had a crisis over the pins because we needed several sensors, then realised that she got the pins wrong AND found out from divi that we only needed one sonar sensor and felt stupid… then she fixed it
day 3 (09/04/24): divi sent over the code for the sonar sensor but forgot to adjust it for the Pi... the main body of the code was fine, but the libraries were dodgy. after a quick google search, we found a starter code for getting the distance for a Raspberry Pi. annoyingly, we ran in to an issue where the code kept disappearing and luna kept on having to retype it! in the afternoon, after lunch, she went back to the robot and it wasn't booting! she looked through some troubleshooting pages and they all included completely dismantling the robot which she wasn't particularly keen on doing, so she sent an sos email to andres for his help!
day 4 (10/04/24): andres hadn't replied to luna's email, so she was stuck doing french gcse revision all day :( she felt like bob was staring at her vindictively with his sonar sensor eyes >:(
day 5 (11/04/24) with bob still broken D:, there was nothing luna could do for the rest of the holiday ):

WHAT CAN BOB DO??
Bob can now autonomously follow white lines, autonomously complete the escape route challenge, grab and carry things, give us a camera feed, poke things with a spiky metal rod, turn 360 degrees, move forwards and backwards, move side to side and move on diagonals!!
