OUR DISASTERS!!

Building our robot has been a challenge, to say the least. One of our first 'disasters' was when we finished typing in a super long and difficult code to a computer, which unfortunately did not have email or copy + paste. When we finished typing it in, the code didn't work!! Because of this, we had to spend a super long time looking over our code to figure out what our mistake was.

Another disaster that took place recently was when we built the rough draft of our robot and it didn't move as smoothly as we would have liked. We had to redo the ENTIRE thing with a different structure we thought would work better- which took TWO WEEKS.

OUR DISASTER MOVIE:

We chose the move 'Don't look up' as inspiration for the design of our robot! 'Don't look up' is a movie starring Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio, who play the roles of Kate Dibiasky and Dr Randall Mindy. In the film, Kate Dibiasky discovers a huge asteroid in space (using a telescope) that is set to hit the earth. Kate and Dr Randall Mindy then try to tell everyone about the asteroid, which if it hits earth, will cause what looks like the end of humanity. Even though it is somewhat of a dark theme, it is a super funny movie which (as well as making us laugh A LOT), also manages to convey to the audience an important message- ignoring a problem will not make it go away! This is seen in the end of the film when (SPOILER ALERT!!!) The asteroid crashes into the earth because people refused to accept it's existence.

"IGNORING A PROBLEM WILL NOT MAKE IT GO AWAY!" Our thoughts:

Clara and I thought that the message this film brought to the audience was something important to think about when building our robot. It was a healthy reminder that, when faced with something that seems difficult, it is best to fix the problem now then letting it crash into us (like the asteroid haha) and cause bigger problems in the future.
